Christmas Eve and requiring nourishment after a hard day of Christmas gift wrapping we visited The Tipperary Inn at 5pm. Even though the front of house and kitchen staff had no doubt had a busy day, the welcome was warm, friendly and service truly faultless. We chose from the Xmas menu, my wife having smoked salmon as a starter and for me a duck roll. Both were beautifully presented with taste matching the look of both plates. For mains, I chose a sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce that was done exactly as I requested, melted in the mouth and tasted delicious. My wife's main course was sea bass and again, the taste very much to her liking. To drink we chose a glass of Chilean Merlot (large size for £5.50) and a pint of Tribute at only £3.20! They also had Purity Mad Goose and Doombar for real ale enthusiasts like me. We had no room for puddings but there was a good selection for those with a sweet tooth and spare room in their tummies! All in all, a most enjoyable and reasonably priced meal (£40.60 total bill price) in a lovely country pub. Well worth a visit if you're local to Balsall Common and Kenilworth or just visiting the area.
